Thank you for visiting the website for New York State Probation Officer’s Association. NYSPOA is a professional organization of Probation Officers with the common goal of increasing public safety, raising awareness, and promoting professionalism in the field of community corrections.

The NYSPOA website offers a bird's eye view of the Probation function in the State of New York and links to other criminal justice agencies of which we work with to provide community safety to the citizens of this state.  On our site you will find meeting dates and locations, along with legislative issues affecting our field, specific county news, and annual conference information, along with how to become involved as a exhibitor or presenter. In addition, you can take advantage of our new features - purchase NYSPOA merchandise, activate or renew membership, and an updated chat area. 2008 NYSPOA Annual Conference

Albany New York, August 13 - 15

The New York State Probation Officers Association, Inc. will be holding its 15th Annual Conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Albany, NY from August 13th to 15th, 2008.

  • Training Opportunity - Thinking for a Change Facilitator Training
    Northeast Region
    under NIC's Regional Training Initiative will present Thinking for a Change Facilitator Training April 21-24, 2008. This is a 32-hour advanced level training program that will prepare participants to facilitate offender groups utilizing the Thinking for a Change cognitive skills development program.

  • Scholarships
    NYSPOA will be offering 4 scholarships to attend the 2008 Annual Conference. To qualify for a scholarship you must be an active NYSPOA member and not qualify for a department paid voucher. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, send the completed application to: NYSPOA, PO Box 294, Albany, NY 12201. Or you can e-mail your name, title, department, and present work assignment to scholarships@nyspoa.com.

    Please note: Scholarships will only cover conference registration – lodging and travel are not included. All applicants will be entered into a pool and four recipients will be RANDOMLY chosen to receive a scholarship.
     

  • What does probation mean to you?
    DPCA State Director Robert Maccarone has requested NYSPOA’s assistance in seeking a motto that identifies the dedicated individuals that represent Probation across New York State. NYPD is known as “New York’s finest” and NYFD is “New York’s Bravest”. What is your idea? NYSPOA is accepting submissions.
